Where Indiana football's 2026 signing class ranks

BLOOMINGTON — Indiana football has long since turned the page on the 2026 recruiting class.

The Hoosiers go into national signing day not expecting to add anyone to the 22-person signing class it announced in December. The class featured 10 players on offense and 12 on defense with signees from nine different states, including seven in-state recruits.

Here's a look at where that class stands in the overall team recruiting rankings:

Where does Indiana football’s 2026 signing class rank nationally?

Indiana has the 32nd ranked signing class in the country, according to 247 Sports composite rankings. It's the program's highest ranked signing class since the 2022 recruiting cycle — former coach Tom Allen's highest rated class — that brought a number of familiar names, left tackle Carter Smith, right guard Bray Lynch, linebacker Isaiah Jones and safety Louis Moore, to Bloomington.

The current class is ranked ninth in the Big Ten, but IU signed more 4-star recruits (seven) than the last four recruiting classes combined (six).

Mandarin's Shaunqueze Foster (5) is tackled by IMG Academy's Cameron McHaney (95) during the first quarter of a high school football matchup at Mandarin High School, Friday, Sept. 19, 2025, in Jacksonville, Fla. The IMG Academy Ascenders defeated the Mandarin Mustangs 57-7.

Who are Indiana football’s highest ranked 2026 signees?

Indiana football signed seven 4-star recruits and 15 of the 22 players it added were ranked among the top 1,000 high school players in this cycle, according to 247 Sports composite rankings. The team's 2025 class only featured a single 4-star signee (Byron Baldwin Jr.) and six players ranked in the top 1,000.

The team's highest ranked signees are primarily on the defensive side of the ball with 6-foot-0, 290-pound defensive lineman Gabriel Hill (No. 213 nationally) leading the way. The Hoosiers also added a pair of highly recruited 4-star defensive linemen out of Florida, Kevontay Hugan (No. 328) and Cameron McHaney (No. 349).

Indiana's highest-rated signee on offense is tight end Parker Elmore, an in-state recruit out of Columbus North High School. Elmore was a consensus top five prospect in the state after leading his team in receptions (58), yards receiving (927) and receiving touchdowns (13) as a senior.
