On Tuesday, August 4, Sam Cardona-Norberg, Paul Myerberg, Matt Hayes, and Blake Toppmeyer unveiled the US LBM Preseason College Football Coaches Poll.
Obviously, the Wisconsin Badgers weren't ranked. This comes as no surprise, and there are far more than 25 teams that, on paper, should be better than a Wisconsin squad that has failed to qualify for a bowl game in back-to-back seasons.
That said, there's some stiff competition in the Big Ten this season. Ohio State topped the rankings at No. 1 while Oregon wasn't far behind at No. 2.
Thankfully for the Badgers, they don't have to play either of those teams this season.
One team they do have to play, though, is Notre Dame. The Fighting Irishclocked in at No. 5, only behind No. 4 Texas and No. 3 Georgia.
Wisconsin vs. Notre Dame is a marquee Week 1 matchup set to take place on Sunday, September 6, from Lambeau Field in Green Bay, WI.
