NORMAN — Fresh off its statement road win over Alabama, OU football was ranked No. 8 in the latest College Football Playoff rankings.
If the season ended Tuesday, the Sooners would be the No. 8 seed and hosting No. 9-seeded Notre Dame at Gaylord Family — Oklahoma Memorial Stadium in the first round. The winner would play No. 1-seeded Ohio State.
OU (8-2, 4-2 SEC) is the highest-ranked team with two losses.
If OU takes care of business at home against No. 22 Missouri at 11 a.m. Saturday on ABC and LSU next week, the Sooners will make the playoff for the first time since 2019.
OU's two losses were to No. 6 Ole Miss and No. 17 Texas. OU's best wins are over No. 10 Alabama on the road, No. 18 Michigan at home and No. 20 Tennessee on the road.
