South Carolina football coach Shane Beamer capped off a week filled with three new coaching hires with a father-son trip.

Beamer took his son Hunter, 12, to the Army vs. Navy game at M&T Bank Stadium in Baltimore, Maryland, on Dec. 13. Beamer and his son went to the Philadelphia Eagles vs Las Vegas Raiders game on Dec. 14 in Philadelphia.

The Eagles are the hometown team of women’s basketball coach Dawn Staley, who Beamer gave a shout-out to when posting a picture from the game. Staley’s Gamecocks play Penn State at 3:30 ET (ESPN).

“Not back yet….Day 2 of Father-Son weekend today. Fired up to be in Philly for Eagles-Raiders. I’m trying to do my part for your team @dawnstaley,” he wrote on X.

This is the second time in five seasons at South Carolina that Beamer isn’t preparing for a bowl game. The Gamecocks went 4-8, the worst record in his tenure.

He revealed that this year marked his first Army vs. Navy game, but it’s not uncommon for Beamer to attend various college games when he’s off.

In 2024, in between the win over Clemson to close the regular season and the Dec. 31 Citrus Bowl, Beamer went to the SEC Championship game in Atlanta.

Why is Shane Beamer at the Eagles vs Raiders game?

Beamer used to coach Jalen Hurts, the Eagles star quarterback, when he was in college at Oklahoma. Beamer was on staff in Norman before he was hired at South Carolina in December 2020.

The Eagles are facing the Las Vegas Raiders, where Tonka Hemingway plays. Hemingway was drafted in the 2025 NFL Draft and played five seasons at defensive tackle for the Gamecocks, four of them under Beamer.
