Where the top wide receivers in the 2027 cycle are committed

Monshun Sales, Easton Royal, Dakota Guerrant

There’s never any shortage of elite wide receiver prospects in a recruiting cycle and the crop that sits atop the 2027 cycle are some of the top players in the entire country.

There’s a whopping 55 blue-chippers at the position, according to the Rivals Industry Rankings, a weighted average that utilizes all major recruiting media companies. All 55 of those pass-catchers are committed and most have been for some time.

Of those 55 prospects, 19 are also top-100 overall prospects and five are five-stars. Some of the most high-profile recruitments of the cycle have centered around top receivers — and one, in particular, continues to churn in the rumor mill.

Texas still has a commitment from the No. 1 prospect at the position, but other SEC programs are pushing for a flip. SEC and Big Ten teams have pledges from nine of the top 10 receivers in the nation. Rivals is taking another look at the top 10 wide receivers in the 2027 cycle, per the Rivals Industry Rankings.

1. Easton Royal — Texas

Rivals Industry Rankings: No. 5 NATL.
School:Brother Martin (La.)
Committed Since: Nov. 29, 2025

Texas made an early splash with Royal as a junior and he opted to commit to the Longhorns over 10 months ago. The day after he pledged, LSU hired Lane Kiffin. The Tigers have been on flip pursuit since alongside other SEC schools. This fall, Royal has visited Texas, LSU and Florida, with each program garnering momentum at various points. LSU is still trending in the Rivals RPM. Royal told Rivals’ Sam Spiegelman last month that he is closing on a final decision.

2. Monshun Sales — Indiana

Rivals Industry Rankings: No. 7 NATL.
School:Lawrence North (Ind.)
Committed Since: July 17

Indiana’s legendary national championship season hasn’t brought the Hoosiers an overwhelming amount of recruiting momentum, but it did help Curt Cignetti and Co. win out for Sales this summer. Alabama, LSU, Texas and Ohio State all pushed, but IU stayed the course and landed perhaps the biggest commitment in program history. Sales reminds Rivals’ Scouting and Rankings Team of Brian Thomas Jr.

3. Nick Lennear — Miami

Rivals Industry Rankings: No. 17 NATL.
School:Miami Carol City (Fla.)
Committed Since: March 5

Miami was trending for Lennear for months, and after weighing a potential junior commitment, he waited a bit but eventually came off the board in the spring. Flips have played a massive role in helping the Hurricanes build a top-three recruiting class, but Lennear, now the No. 3 prospect in the Sunshine State, was an old-fashioned win for Mario Cristobal and The U.

4. Jamier Brown — Ohio State

Rivals Industry Rankings: No. 19 NATL.
School:Wayne (Ohio)
Committed Since: Nov. 23, 2024

Ohio State is great at recruiting early, keeping top local targets home and winning out with elite wide receivers. Brown’s commitment over 22 months ago checked all three of those boxes. The 5-foot-11, 195-pounder didn’t waver once vaunted position coach Brian Hartline left Columbus after last season and he’s remained rock-solid as a senior. Brown is one of three five-stars committed to the Buckeyes this cycle.

5. Dakota Guerrant — Oregon

Rivals Industry Rankings: No. 21 NATL.
School:Harper Woods (Mich.)
Committed Since: June 16

Oregon continues to go all across the nation to pluck top talent and Guerrant was a massive win amidst official visit season this summer. The Ducks beat out Michigan, among others, for the touted 6-foot-1.5, 200-pounder. Guerrant excels on both sides of the ball at the high school level and he reminds Rivals’ Scouting and Rankings Team of Emeka Egbuka.

6. Eric McFarland — Texas A&M

Rivals Industry Rankings: No. 34 NATL.
School:IMG Academy (Fla.)
Committed Since: June 28

Texas A&M still holds the No. 1 class in the Rivals Industry Team Recruiting Rankings. The pledge list is so loaded that it can be easy to miss someone like McFarland, who’s somehow just the sixth-highest-ranked commit in the mix for the Aggies. The Las Vegas native, who now plays for perhaps the most notable HSFB program in the nation, chose A&M over Florida and Georgia in the end.

7. Xavier Sabb — Oregon

Rivals Industry Rankings: No. 36 NATL.
School:Glassboro (N.J.)
Committed Since: July 3

Sabb forms the nation’s best WR duo this cycle alongside Guerrant. The 6-foot playmaker is also locked in with the Ducks — who have the nation’s No. 4 class — despite being more than 2,400 miles away from Eugene. Tennessee, LSU and UCLA were the other top contenders in Sabb’s recruitment. He entered his senior season with 2,400 receiving yards and 30 touchdowns and 13 interceptions under his belt.

8. Osani Gayles — Alabama

Rivals Industry Rankings: No. 48 NATL.
School:IMG Academy (Fla.)
Committed Since: June 27

Another versatile wideout who stars at IMG, Gayles originally hails from California, but he intends on staying in the Southeast at the next level. He took his official visits during the summer, but Alabama snatched the momentum and eventually beat out Washington and Stanford, among others. He’s one of two top-100 commits for Kalen DeBoer and the Tide this cycle.

9. Jaden Upshaw — Texas A&M

Rivals Industry Rankings: No. 57 NATL.
School:Lee County (Ga.)
Committed Since: April 15

The Aggies have picked up some crucial recruiting wins in the Peach State this cycle and Upshaw, the No. 5 senior in Georgia, is one of the biggest. The 6-foot-1.5, 195-pounder gave essentially the entire SEC a look, and while the likes of Auburn and Florida tried, Trooper Taylor and the A&M staff got the edge and added his commitment in the spring. Upshaw reminds Rivals’ Scouting and Rankings Team of Michael Gallup.

10. Kesean Bowman — Tennessee

Rivals Industry Rankings: No. 65 NATL.
School:Brentwood Academy (Tenn.)
Committed Since: March 28

Oregon was the first to land a commitment from Bowman, the No. 3 prospect in Tennessee. That pledge lasted less than two months, however, as the blue-chipper opted to give his recruitment a little more time to develop. That led him to eventually staying in-state with the Vols in the spring. He’s been on Rocky Top myriad times and is the second-highest-ranked commit in the mix for Josh Heupel and Co.
