Will Texas bounce back or will the Longhorns continue to struggle? That question should be answered later today as UT hosts the Florida Gators in Austin.

Seven days ago, Texas was the No. 1 team in the nation. They had earned that ranking by knocking off then No. 1 Ohio State in Week 2 and held onto it through a trip to Knoxville where they held off Tennessee. The Longhorns offense had sputtered, but given UT enough to keep winning.

That formula came crashing down last Saturday in the second half of the Red River Shootout, where UT quarterback Arch Manning and the offense could do very little right. Manning through two critical interceptions as the Sooners stormed back to win 27-24.

Florida's season has been similar. Under new coach Jon Sumrall, the Gators knocked off Auburn and upset Ole Miss, rising to No. 8 in the polls. But the Gators season has fallen apart since with back-to-back losses to Missouri and South Carolina.

Texas vs. Florida prediction

I think Texas wins big. The offense will click better than it has all season. Manning will look the best he has all season and the offense puts some points on the board.

Defensively, Texas has another big day. Florida QB Aaron Philo is questionable, as are WRs Vernell Brown III and Bailey Stockton. The Gators will get some yards on the ground with super running back Jadan Baugh. But the passing game will be a mess.

If Texas is (still) a title contender, they need to use this game as a springboard for the rest of the season.

Final Score: Texas 37, Florida 10

Texas Longhorns and Florida Gators Injuries

Texas defensive lineman Justus Terry is listed as probable. Terry has missed the past four games after suffering a toe/foot injury in warmups for the Ohio State game. He suited up last week for the Oklahoma game, but did not play. Presumably, Terry was dressed if needed in an emergency, similar to Hollywood Smothers against Tennessee.

Jordan Coleman is also probable. Offensive lineman Jaydon Chatman and wide receiver Kaliq Lockett are out for the Florida game.

On the Gators side of the report, the big news is starting quarterback Aaron Philo is listed as questionable. Philo hurt his shoulder last week in a 38-19 loss to South Carolina. The Bogart, GA native has been limited in practice this week.

Philo, who is a Georgia Tech transfer, has thrown for 1,341 yards and rushed for 104 yards so far this season. The junior has scored 12 total touchdowns with three interceptions in his first season as a starter.

The other two questionable players on the report are wide receivers Vernell Brown III and Bailey Stockton. Brown is reportedly trending towards playing against the Longhorns. The Gainesville native has 17 catches for 271 yards and two touchdowns through four games this season.

Stockton had his best game of the year against the Gamecocks last week. He was named the Gators Wire offensive player of the week.
