Where Vanderbilt ranks in college basketball polls after beating Alabama

Vanderbilt basketball was ranked No. 8 in the USA TODAY Coaches Poll released Jan. 12, up two spots from its previous ranking of No. 10.

The Commodores (16-0, 3-0 SEC) have tied their best start in program history after wins over Alabama and LSU in the past week. No other SEC teams are ranked near Vanderbilt, with Arkansas coming in at No. 17 and Alabama at No. 18.

Tyler Tanner (17.3 points per game) and Duke Miles (17.2 ppg) both rank in the top 10 of the SEC in scoring. Miles also leads the SEC with 2.9 steals per game, with Tanner second at 2.6 and Frankie Collins third at 2.4.
