Who could be the next commit for Florida Gators 2027 class?

College football official visit season begins on Thursday, meaning the Florida Gators will be hosting several top recruits on campus.

Nearly a dozen of Florida's 16 total commits in the cycle have a four-star rating or better, according to 247Sports. After elevating the class as high as No. 4 on ESPN's national team recruiting rankings, Jon Sumrall and his staff are searching for prospect No. 17 this summer.

Ja'Bios Smith, a 6-foot-3-inch, 195-pound linebacker out of Swainsboro, Georgia, leads the list of prospective signees. Florida battles Texas Tech, Texas and South Carolina for the four-star LB who recorded 72 tackles and eight tackles for loss for Swainsboro High School last season. The Gators have depth at the position with Myles Graham, Aaron Chiles and Jaden Robinson, but may lose at least one to the NFL after the 2026 campaign. His commitment date is slated for June 17.

Orlando native Kamauri Whitfield is the next likely target for Florida. The 5-foot-10-inch, 185-pound, three-star cornerback out of The First Academy is also being heavily recruited by Nebraska, Virginia Tech and Oregon. Florida has been the top choice for Whitfield since he decommitted from Tennessee early this year. A long-time target for the Gators and favorite of Jon Sumrall, his commitment date is set for July 6.

Offensive lineman Kennedee Jackson is a 6-foot-5.5-inch, 301-pound prospect out of Lithonia, Georgia. Touted as a future NFL prospect, Jackson is also being pursued by Georgia Tech, Georgia, Auburn and LSU. The No. 14-ranked OL in the cycle would be a strong addition to a class that already has five-star Maxwell Hiller and four-star Peyton Miller. Georgia holds an official visit on June 5 with the blue-chipper, and his commitment date is set for June 10.
