Who did New Mexico State football snag on National Signing Day?

New Mexico State put the finishing touches on its 2026 recruiting class during National Signing Day on Wednesday, Feb. 4, signing three new high school players.

Alongside the three high school players signed during the early signing period last December, this gives the Aggies six new freshmen for the 2026 season. NM State will have 36 newcomers in total after signing 26 transfers and four junior college players alongside its high school acquisitions.

RB Xavier Rucker

Measurables: 5-11, 195

From: Allatoona High School (Acworth, GA)

Rucker is a three-star recruit who had interest from power conference teams and will join NM State during the spring. According to 247Sports, he had offers from Georgia Tech (he was committed to the Yellow Jackets before decommitting), Indiana, Oklahoma State, Auburn and Virginia Tech. Fellow Conference USA teams Liberty and Kennesaw State also offered Rucker.

Rucker rushed for 1,802 yards and 15 touchdowns, and caught 46 passes for an additional 788 yards and eight touchdowns during his high school career. He was a two-time All-State honorable mention and a two-time All-Region selection.

LB Jaylyn Manning

Measurables: 6-1, 230

From: Duncanville High School (Desoto, TX)

Manning tallied 120 total tackles and two interceptions at Duncanville last season and had offers from schools like UTEP, Jacksonville State and Southern Mississippi, among others. He earned first-team All-District 11-6A honors for his performances in 2025.

Manning was a part of a Panthers team that reached the Texas 6A state championship game last season. He was a two-year starter for Duncanville and will join the Aggies in the summer.

S Garrett Stennett

Measurables: 5-11, 180

From: Weiss High School (Pflugerville, TX)

According to 247Sports, Stennett had offers from schools like Sam Houston, Colorado State, Texas State, North Texas and Old Dominion, among others. He tallied 56 total tackles, seven pass breakups and three interceptions for Weiss last season and received a three-star rating from Dave Campbell’s Texas Football.

Stennett is also a track athlete, as he participates in the 4×200-meter relay and jumping events. He will join NM State in the summer.
