Georgia will return to the College Football Playoff for the fourth time in five years.
The Bulldogs not only locked up a playoff berth, they locked up a first-round bye with a 28-7 win over No. 9 Alabama on Saturday in the SEC Championship Game. Georgia is the No. 3 seed and will get a pass to the quarterfinals and will start their College Football Playoff in the Sugar Bowl on Jan. 1.
Last season, the Bulldogs were the No. 2 seed and started its postseason at the Sugar Bowl against No. 7 Notre Dame. UGA was upset by the Irish 23-10.
Georgia is led by first-year starting quarterback Gunner Stockton, who has shown steady improvement throughout the year. Stockton was the fifth-rated passer in the SEC and had 20 TD passes and five interceptions entering the SEC championship game. Georgia's defense was third in the SEC at 16.7 points allowed per game.
Here's a breakdown of Georgia's path in the College Football Playoff, including its next opponent.
