Who would be on Kirby Smart’s Mount Rushmore of Georgia football players?

That was a question posed to the Bulldogs coach on his weekly radio show on Thursday night Nov. 13.

“Man, that’s so hard, so unfair,” Smart said.

He was told he could pick four for this week (with wiggle room to change it next week).

Smart, now in his 10th season, went with four who played for him.

“Stetson Bennett because he won the national championships and he was a quarterback,” Smart said.

Bennett won back-to-back titles in 2021 and 2022.

“Let’s go Travon Walker,” Smart said. “He was picked No. 1 overall.”

The defensive end was the No. 1 pick of the Jacksonville Jaguars in 2022.

“OK, alright, let’s go with Nakobe Dean because was one of the best leaders to ever do it,” Smart said of the 2021 Butkus Award winner for nation’s top linebacker.

Then he squeezed in two players in the final spot.

“Then they would share one spot between Nick and Sony,” he said of running backs Nick Chubb and Sony Michel. “They would because they’re so close friends. They would just like half heads.”

Chubb is Georgia‘s No. 2 all-time leading rusher and Michel is No. 3.

Smart said if he had to go years back, he would go with Jake Scott and Scott Woerner.

“Some of the guys that played that I grew up watching and saw the interceptions they made,” the former Georgia safety said. “Those were the guys that I enjoyed watching. They were back there playing DB.”

He made sure to mention two other defensive backs: Ben Smith and Champ Bailey.

“That’s four defensive backs, too, good ones,” he said.
