Why Alabama's game vs. Florida State is delayed

Alabama enters Saturday’s game with a 2-0 record. The Crimson Tide look to make the College Football Playoff this season under head coach Kalen DeBoer, for the second consecutive year.

Florida State meanwhile enters the game in a tough position. The Seminoles are 1-1 on the campaign, with a loss to SMU. Florida State head coach Mike Norvell is on the hot seat this year.

It appears the bad weather didn’t affect the morale of Alabama fans.

“Despite the delay, Alabama’s student section found ways to stay active. Crimson Tide students broke into Florida State’s war chant while being pelted with rain, and when Florida State trainers walked onto the playing surface to take down the Seminoles’ medical tent, they greeted them with boos,” the Associated Press reported.

Alabama already passed a key conference test this season, by defeating Kentucky 45-17. The Crimson Tide also have a win over East Carolina. Alabama will certainly help their case for a CFP berth by defeating the Seminoles on Saturday.

Florida State meanwhile may find themselves completely out of the CFP conversation with just one more loss. The Seminoles would certainly gain momentum with a win over a powerful Crimson Tide team.

Time will tell how long the delay goes on. This is a rematch of the 2025 season opener. Florida State won that game, 31-17.
