The Ohio State-Michigan game ended in considerably tamer fashion than the Ohio State loss in 2024, thanks to a de-escalation of tension from both coaches.
After the Buckeyes broke their four-game rivalry losing streak against Michigan by winning 27-9 in Michigan Stadium on Nov. 29, Ohio State coach Ryan Day and Michigan coach Sherrone Moore met midfield to shake hands, but also to calm any postgame scuffles between the two teams.
While Ohio State players celebrated the win with fans, Michigan players guarded around the Michigan “M” in the middle of the field to prevent Ohio State players from planting a flag in the logo.

“Sherrone, if we don’t want a problem, we gotta get them [Michigan players] out of here,” Day said to Moore in a video posted by NBC4, “I’m not gonna plant any flags, none of that.”
Moore then told Day, “I got this,” and turned to the Michigan players and said, “Guys, to the locker room!” instructing them off the field.
Really interesting stuff right after the game between Sherrone Moore and Ryan Day, first the handshake, then Michigan took time to leave the field first, Ohio State waited @nbc4ipic.twitter.com/UPXhbHbmf8

A video from 10TV showed the Ohio State coaching staff turning players away from the center of the field who were holding flags.
There was an attempted flag planting… but Ryan Day said no.

After Ohio State lost to Michigan in 2024, Michigan players planted a flag in the middle of the Ohio State “O,” at Ohio Stadium, leading to a post-game brawl.

“We can’t let that happen,” Michigan running back Bryson Kuzdzal said in the Michigan postgame press conference. “We didn’t know if they were [Ohio State players] going to [plant the flag] or not, but if they were trying to, they were not going to.”
