OXFORD − Ole Miss football has a big upcoming rivalry game. Coach Lane Kiffin didn’t talk about anything else in his weekly press conference on Nov. 24
The No. 6 Rebels (10-1, 6-1 SEC) are preparing for the Egg Bowl. Ole Miss plays at Mississippi State (5-6, 1-6 SEC) on Nov. 28 (11 a.m. ABC).
Kiffin deflected questions about his future, including being pursued by Florida and LSU.
In his introductory remarks he addressed the interest in his decision.
“I’m sure you’ve got a lot of other questions but I’m just answering questions focused on the team and this season and our players,” Kiffin said.
He was asked about his coaching future several times in the press conference but each time he declined to addressed it.
The coaching search has taken public twists and turns. Kiffin’s family visited Gainesville, Florida and Baton Rouge, Louisiana in the week after Ole Miss beat Florida on Nov. 15.
Kiffin again insisted that his team is not distracted. Quarterback Trinidad Chambliss put out a statement before the press conference saying that players were focused on the Egg Bowl and not beyond.
