Why LSU will have one of the best offenses in football

The LSU Tigers are less than two weeks away from the start of the 2026 football season and welcoming Clemson into Baton Rouge.

Lane Kiffin’s squad will not only have a tough challenge on their hands in Week 1, but every week in their schedule as they will face the 11th toughest slate in America, highlighted by Clemson, Ole Miss, Alabama, Texas, Texas A&M, and more.

So why are so many people high on the Bayou Bengals?

It’s simple really: Lane Kiffin and Charlie Weis Jr together will have a potent offense.

Ole Miss’s offense, led by those two last year, scored nearly 37 points a game, which is tenth nationally.

Now at LSU, Kiffin and Weis have a equal talent at quarterback, a better wide receiver room, and a better offensive line. The only advantage they departed from was Kewan Lacy in that running back room.

LSU has also had really strong offenses in recent years under Brian Kelly, including winning a Heisman Trophy in 2023 with Jayden Daniels.

I don’t know that I necessarily buy into the title rumors surrounding LSU, but this group should no doubt get a berth in the CFP.

Sam Leavitt, Harlem Berry/Caden Durham/Dilin Jones, Tre Wilson, Jackson Harris, TreyDez Green, Winnie Watkins, etc etc etc will be a problem for every defense on the 2026 schedule. Add in Kiffin and Weis’s offensive mastery? This is going to be a lot of fun to watch.
