The Navy Midshipmen have broken out the sweet helmets once again for their bowl game.

It's the same uniform and helmet combination that they unveiled for the Army-Navy game, and it's back for the Liberty Bowl against Cincinnati.

The navy-colored uniforms and copper helmet look sharp, particularly in the pouring rain at Friday's bowl game.

"Located in Boston, Mass., the USS Constitution is the only remaining frigate from the original six frigate fleet and is the world's oldest commissioned warship still afloat," Navy Athletics shared. "In the late 1850s, with the Naval Academy running out of space, the USS Constitution was converted into a floating classroom, housing and training area for midshipmen to practice sail handling and other practical naval skills. Its nickname, Old Ironsides, came from a battle during the War of 1812 when cannonballs appeared to bounce off the ship's thick wooden hull. The USS Constitution is undefeated in battle, never having to lower its flag. The USS Constitution was heavily referenced for design details and inspiration for the uniform."

Why is Navy wearing special helmets for its bowl game?

Navy is wearing the same special uniforms that were created for the Army-Navy game.

The color of the uniforms is called Washed Navy, and it's based on the original uniform instruction issued by the Naval Committee on Sept. 5, 1776. It also represents the faded blue color of coats worn by sailors.

There's also a stone color involved with the pants, which links to the sails on the USS Constitution, along with Nautical Navy and Heritage Red in the color scheme, too.

The helmet is copper to represent the under hull of the USS Constitution.
