PIKE ROAD — Auburn football is in an idle week before it’s matchup against Mercer in Week 13, and defensive tackle Malik Blocton decided to spend his week back home in Pike Road, particularly back under the Friday night lights.
Blocton was back at his alma mater, Pike Road for the Patriots second-round AHSAA football playoff game against Bessemer City.
During his career with Pike Road, Blocton recorded 227 tackles, 22 sacks, two forced fumbles and an interception. Out of high school, Blocton was four-star recruit according to 247 Sports and the 24th-best recruit out of Alabama. Blocton signed with Auburn on Dec. 20, 2023.
“I love it, the people love me here and I’m embraced out here,” Blocton told the Montgomery Advertiser about spending Friday night back home at Pike Road. “This is home and every time I come back I appreciate it.”
While Pike Road headed into halftime with a 21-0 lead over Bessemer City, Blocton spend it taking photos with Pike Road fans of all ages.
During the game, Blocton was fired up on the sidelines, showing all sorts of emotion whenever the Patriots made a big play.
“This game just shows the culture they’ve built here, coach (Granger) Shook demands a lot of his players everyday,” Blocton said. “They’re down two of their best players and they’re still out here putting up 20 points in the first half.”
Blocton has 15 tackles and a fumble recovery with Auburn in the 2025 season.
