BATON ROUGE ― With the implementation of the early signing period and the transfer portal, National Signing Day just isn’t what it used to be.
Long gone are the days of fax machine watching and college football signing day live streams on the first Wednesday of February. Heading into National Signing Day, the LSU football recruiting class for 2026 ranks No. 11 in the country, per the 247Sports recruiting rankings.
While the luster has faded, does that mean new LSU head coach Lane Kiffin and his staff won’t add any more players to their first recruiting class in Baton Rouge? In fact, LSU is expected to sign one high school recruit on Wednesday.
LSU currently has 17 signees for the 2026 class. Kiffin and his staff worked to pull together the top ranked transfer portal class, bringing in 43 players to help fill a number of needs within the roster.
Who could LSU football sign on National Signing Day?
Jackson Williams, safety
High school/Hometown: Archbishop Shaw High School/Marrero, Louisiana
Height/Weight: 6-2, 170
Rank: 3 stars, No. 1,449 in nation, No. 39 in Louisiana, No. 136 at position
Williams was signed with Washington State but was released from his national letter of intent. Before committing and signing with Washington State, he was a Tulane commit before then head coach Jon Sumrall left for the Florida head coaching position.
Where does LSU football’s 2026 recruiting class rank nationally?
- 247Sports: No. 11 (No. 6 in SEC)
- On3/Rivals: No. 12 (No. 6 in SEC)
While Kiffin came on board Dec 1 officially, LSU didn’t lose many commits at the time during the coaching change. The new staff worked to keep a lot of blue-chip recruits on board and LSU has been able to be among the top classes this cycle.
Who are the standouts in LSU football’s 2026 recruiting class?
LSU’s two five-star signees from the early period, defensive linemen Lamar Brown from Baton Rouge and Richard Anderson from New Orleans, are the biggest standouts and most important prospects for Kiffin to hold on to once he took over at LSU.
There are nine four-stars signed to LSU’s 2026 class. Offensive lineman Brysten Martinez and defensive lineman Deuce Geralds from Georgia are two more guys that LSU had to work hard to keep after the coaching change.
