CHATTANOOGA — After dry conditions throughout the day, a wide swath of rain has blanketed the area as Brentwood Academy faces Baylor in the TSSAA football playoffs Division II-AAA state championship game on Dec. 4 at Finley Stadium.
The only elements fans and teams braved in the DII-A and DII-AA championship games were low to mid-40s temperatures, but rain has steadily moved across much of Tennessee in the past few hours. The temperature at kickoff was 43 degrees.
The rain is expected to last throughout the DII-AAA title game, reminiscent of the 2023 BlueCross Bowl championships in which rain poured into Finley Stadium on two of the three championship days.
BGA captured its first state championship in 22 years, beating FRA, 61-27, as quarterback Kaedyn Marable was named game MVP on Dec. 4. He threw for 384 yards and tied a state championship record with seven total touchdowns (four passing, three rushing).
Jared Curtis led Nashville Christian to back-to-back state titles in DII-A as it rolled over USJ, 59-7. Curtis was named MVP after throwing for 205 yards and five TDs. The Vanderbilt signee, and nation's No. 1 quarterback, also rushed for 78 yards and a TD.
