Wisconsin lands transfer commitment from three-star 2026 linebacker

Wisconsin football secured its second transfer portal commitment of the 2026 window on Sunday.
Taylor Schaefer, who suited up at inside linebacker at Iowa Central Community College over the past two seasons, announced his commitment to Luke Fickell's program on Sunday morning. He becomes the second class of 2026 transfer playmaker to announce his pledge to Wisconsin's program over the past two days, joining former Grand Valley State defensive lineman Jibriel Conde.
The Brussels, Wisconsin, native received several offers from Division I programs since the beginning of November, including from Kentucky, Arkansas, Iowa State, Purdue, Nebraska, Minnesota, Colorado and Iowa State. The Badgers extended their offer on Nov. 18, and Schaefer officially visited Madison on Nov. 26, per 247Sports.
As a sophomore at Iowa Central, Schaefer starred with 97 total tackles, 10.0 tackles for loss, 5.0 sacks and an interception. The Iowa Community College Athletic Conference recognized Schaefer as its Defensive Player of the Year for his efforts on Nov. 25.
Wisconsin's class of 2026 now holds the No. 64 position in the nation with 15 players committed to the cohort. Schaefer now joins a loaded linebacker room headlined by true freshmen Mason Posa and Cooper Catalano.
