Wisconsin put into two bowl games that may shape Luke Fickell's tenure

In a surprising turn of events, the Wisconsin Badgers haven’t seen postseason football for two straight seasons.
The last time this happened for them was an eight-year stint from 1985 to 1992, further proving that this is unknown territory for a team that used to be the model of steady football.
However, according to ESPN’s Kyle Bonagura and Mark Schlabach, things are set to change soon, as the pair each projected Luke Fickell to lead his squad to a bowl game this season.
Bonagura anticipates the Badgers will land in the Union Home Mortgage Gasparilla Bowl against the Duke Blue Devils. Funnily enough, the last time the two met was at the Hall of Fame Bowl in 1995, hosted in Tampa, the same location as the Gasparilla Bowl.
Schlabach, meanwhile, tipped Wisconsin to land in the Duke’s Mayo Bowl against the Viriginia Cavaliers. The Cavs and the Badgers have met once, all the way back in 2001, in what resulted in a 26-17 win at Camp Randall for Wisconsin.
The best thing these projections give fans is a sense of confidence that the bad dream of the 2024 and 2025 seasons may finally be coming to an end, and that Fickell may, after all, be the guy who can eventually take Wisconsin to the next level.
