A little over a week ago, 2027 three-star wide receiver Majay Thompson named Florida State one of his top four schools along with the Alabama Crimson Tide, Georgia Bulldogs, and Wake Forest Demon Deacons. He plans to make his decision on Friday, but it could be sooner.

Thompson received an offer from FSU back in April during his first trip to their campus. However, he was on an official visit this past weekend, and he asked some very in-depth questions as it pertains to the program. The Seminoles checked all the boxes according to the 6-foot, 185-pounder.

“It was smooth, just being here, feeling everything out — the environment, the coaches,” Thompson told Warchant. “It was good. … Really, they just answered all my questions that I had and concerns. Yeah, was about it. And just showing me around more, like the facility, apartments, stuff like that.”

As is the case with any recruit, stability within the coaching staff is a major factor. It's also no secret that Florida State head coach Mike Norvell is entering the most important season of his tenure after only winning seven games over the past two years.

The program, at least for now, is still putting its faith in Norvell going forward. Thompson wanted to make sure that things in that regard were intact as his decision drew closer.

“What could happen if the season were to go bad,” Thompson said. “But like all in all, Coach [Mike Norvell], he’s got some more years, you know. Coach [Tim] Harris, he got an extension because you know he’s the offensive coordinator. So, all in all, everything is good.”

Thompson was a productive player during his junior year at Crest High School. He caught 53 passes for 865 yards and scored 13 touchdowns, which came out to 16.3 yards per reception. Thomas would also add a punt return for a score.

FSU isn't expected to take a big receiver class in 2027 after bringing in six during the previous cycle. With that said, four-star recruit Sean Green is the only player at the position that Florida State has committed right now, which makes Thompson's decision an intriguing one.

Rivals' industry rankings have Thompson listed as the nation's No. 937 overall player and the No. 129 wide receiver. In the state of North Carolina, he's ranked as the No. 31 prospect.
