Michigan football continues to stack its chips.

The Wolverines landed a commitment on Thursday, May 14, from class of 2027 four-star defensive lineman Xavier Muhammad − the second four-star pledge in as many days to signify his intent to join coach Kyle Whittingham in Ann Arbor.

Muhammad, a 6-foot-4, 275-pound prospect out of South Houston, Texas, is yet another blue-chip recruit, rated the No. 9 defensive lineman in the nation, the No. 12 player in Texas and No. 97 overall in the country per 247 Sports' composite rankings.

Muhammad, a three-sport athlete who also has a background in basketball – he averaged a double-double in more than 30 games as a sophomore – and track and field, had interest from multiple Power Four schools including Notre Dame, Miami (Florida) and nearby Houston.

The additions of Muhammad and four-star wideout Quentin Burrell have helped U-M continue to climb in the recruiting rankings, now up to the No. 21 class in the country, per 247.
