‘Y’all got somebody for me?’: Jaylen Brown is ready for love after Coco Jones and Donovan Mitchell’s wedding

The NBA star says watching his friends celebrate their marriage left him inspired to find a lasting connection of his own.
Sometimes seeing love up close will have you reevaluating your whole life.
Philadelphia 76ers star Jaylen Brown appears to be having one of those moments after attending the wedding of Grammy-winning singer Coco Jones and Cleveland Cavaliers star Donovan Mitchell.
Jones, 28, and Mitchell, 29, tied the knot Aug. 1 in Connecticut in front of family, friends and a guest list that brought together stars from the worlds of sports and entertainment. Just days later, Brown revealed that watching his friends celebrate their commitment had him thinking about his own love life.
During a livestream on Aug. 3, the 29-year-old basketball star told viewers that witnessing the newlyweds exchange vows had an unexpected effect on him.
“Coco and Donovan, man, they touched me,” Brown said, describing the celebration as an “amazing event.”
Then came the part that quickly caught fans’ attention.
“Chat, if y’all know somebody or y’all got somebody for me, y’all let me know,” he told viewers.
Brown may have been playful with the invitation, but his larger point was clear: Watching two people he cares about choose one another made partnership look pretty appealing.
And judging by the glimpses shared from the celebration, it is not hard to understand why.
Jones and Mitchell’s reception included a particularly romantic moment as the newlyweds danced to Musiq Soulchild’s R&B classic “Love.” Brown shared a video of the dance on his Instagram Stories as Jones wrapped her arms around her new husband and kissed him.
For a generation raised on an R&B soundtrack, there is something especially fitting about watching a young Black couple begin married life to a song literally called “Love.”
The celebration also included plenty of familiar faces. Ciara and Russell Wilson joined NBA players such as NBA Finals MVP Jalen Brunson, Bam Adebayo and Evan Mobley among the guests celebrating the couple.
Jones and Mitchell’s path to the altar has largely unfolded away from the constant glare of social media. The couple dated for roughly two years before announcing their engagement in July 2025. Jones had previously spoken about protecting her relationship while still acknowledging that she was happy, a choice that made their eventual engagement and marriage feel like a glimpse into a relationship they had intentionally nurtured outside public consumption.
Their wedding arrives as Brown enters a new season of his own.
The 2024 NBA Finals MVP joined the Philadelphia 76ers this summer after spending the first 10 seasons of his career with the Boston Celtics. He averaged 28.7 points, 6.9 rebounds and 5.1 assists during the 2025-26 season.
Brown has already achieved the kind of professional success most athletes spend their entire careers chasing. He is an NBA champion, a multiple-time All-Star and one of basketball’s most recognizable stars.
But apparently, watching Mitchell and Jones reminded him that there are some milestones money and trophies cannot duplicate.
There was also something refreshing about hearing a multimillionaire athlete openly say that seeing a healthy union made him want love of his own. Black men, particularly professional athletes, are often discussed publicly through dating rumors, bachelor lifestyles and celebrity relationships. Brown’s response centered something much simpler: He saw his friends happy together and thought, essentially, I want that too.
Whether the internet should actually be trusted to choose his future partner is another matter entirely.
But Brown says he is open to love.
Now the matchmaking portion of the program has apparently begun.
