You voted, see who won the Sarasota, Manatee area football MVP polls

We asked and you voted.

The Herald-Tribune recently rolled out its 2025 Fall All-Area team selections.

We honored the top football players from Manatee and Sarasota counties by naming our 2025 All-Area Offense Team and 2025 All-Area Defense Team naming First Team, Second Team, and Honorable Mention lists.

We selected Venice edge rusher Asharri Charles as our Football Defense Player of the Year and Cardinal Mooney running back Connail Jackson as our Football Offense Player of the Year. Then we gave you the chance to have your say on who you think should be Players of the Year.

Here are the results:

Football Offensive Player of the Year

Riverview High's offensive lineman Grayson Martin was voted the 2025 Herald-Tribune Fan's Vote for Offensive Player of the Year.

Grayson Martin

School: Riverview

Year: Senior

Position: Offensive lineman

Highlights: Martin was an unheralded part of Riverview’s success due to the team’s abundance of offensive playmakers, but without him, those stars wouldn’t have shone so bright. The 6-foot-3, 315-pound senior helped open holes for a rushing attack that amassed over 3,500 rushing yards and 47 rushing touchdowns.

Football Defensive Player of the Year

Venice High cornerback Micah Walker-Brown was voted the 2025 Herald-Tribune Fan's Vote for Football Offense Player of the Year.

Micah Walker-Brown

School: Venice

Year: Senior

Position: Cornerback

Highlights: The Venice defense needed cornerbacks to step up this season, and Walker-Brown did just that. The senior led the team with 9 pass breakups, made 4 interceptions, and made 67 tackles.
