Marshall Johnson proved to be one of the top linemen in West Michigan last year as a junior – on both sides of the ball.
The Zeeland West senior got an even bigger opportunity when he moved to tight end this season. That is a key position on the Dux line and also allowed him the opportunity to catch some passes as well, helping the Dux to the regional final.
Johnson made the most of this versatility, which has brought him an even bigger opportunity – playing college football.
After looking at several schools, Johnson committed to play football at Madonna University, an NAIA program in Livonia.
"The recruitment process was long," Johnson said. "But my dad gave a great piece of advice which was to pick a school that felt like home. After my visit to Madonna it felt like a place I could live."
The Crusaders are getting a strong leader as well as a strong player and are hoping Johnson can help the team turn around a 1-10 season.
"The coaching staff was awesome and seemed to share the same passion for the game I do," he said.
