As the college football season nears a conclusion, the offseason begins for many teams. This means determining the future of some of their top players.
Several players are faced with a significant decision: will they choose to stay at their current schools, declare for the 2026 NFL Draft or enter the transfer portal to play college football elsewhere? This includes one of the top wide receivers in the country.
Ohio Bobcats wide receiver Chase Hendricks has reportedly made a decision regarding his future. Hendricks had an impressive junior season, finishing with 71 receptions for 1,037 yards and seven touchdowns. In Ohio’s Frisco Bowl victory over the UNLV Rebels on Tuesday night, he caught four passes for 87 yards.
Hendricks finished the season ranked No. 13 in the nation for receiving yards. Following this impressive performance, the 6-foot wide receiver decided to enter the transfer portal. He instantly becomes one of the most productive receivers to indicate plans to play elsewhere next season, making him a likely top target for several schools. The transfer portal opens on Jan. 2.

Hendricks’ decision sends an immediate ripple through both the transfer portal and the MAC landscape. For Ohio, losing its top offensive weapon creates a clear void in production and leadership after a season in which Hendricks served as the focal point of the passing game. From a national perspective, his entry reinforces a growing trend of elite Group of Five skill players testing the portal after peak statistical seasons, drawing immediate attention from Power 4 programs in need of proven perimeter playmakers.
For Hendricks, the move positions him to elevate both his competition level and NFL visibility. His combination of size, production and consistency makes him one of the most attractive wide receivers available this cycle. As programs reshape their rosters ahead of spring practices, Hendricks’ recruitment could move quickly, with his next destination likely playing a significant role in shaping offensive expectations for the 2026 season.
