De’ArieunHicks (b. April 7, 2006) is an FCS transfer defensive tackle who is majoring in sociology. He redshirted* and did not see any game action in 2024 for Gardner-Webb.

Last season, Hicks played in 12 games, posting 21 tackles, 4.5 tackles for loss, 1.5 sacks and a fumble recovery.

He had a season-best three tackles against Charleston Southern, Tennessee-Martin and Southeast Missouri; registered a season-high two tackles for loss for the Bulldogs against Charleston Southern; posted a sack at Lindenwood; had half a sack against SEMO; and recovered a fumble in the season opener at Western Carolina.

Hicks prepped under head coach Randy Kerns at Richmond (Ind.) High School, where he totaled 77 tackles, 13.5 tackles for loss, two sacks, two forced fumbles, one fumble recovery and one pass breakup during his prep career.

He chose K-State over an offer from Big 12 rival Iowa State, despite the Cyclones’ obtaining the first visit.

Hicks’ primary recruiter was his position coach, defensive line coach Buddy Wyatt.

*K-State has recently announced a new classification scheme that designates players by their year of eligibility regardless of whether they have “redshirted,” a term that will go out of use with the new “5-for-5” rule. Thus, the KSU SID lists Hicks as a true junior even though he did not play in 2024. For the sake of consistency with past posts, I will continue to designate redshirts based on their playing history, but also note their remaining eligibility to stay consistent with the new designations as well.
