Redshirt junior tight end Trent Thomas enters his first season at Tennessee in 2026.
The 6-foot-5, 253-pound tight end transferred to Vols after playing three seasons at South Alabama. From 2023-25, he appeared in 26 games, including 13 starts, for the Jaguars.
Thomas totaled five receptions for 39 yards in 691 offensive plays. He also returned one kick for four yards.
Thomas enrolled at Tennessee in January and has two seasons of eligibility remaining.
He is from Cottage Hill Christian Academy in Mobile, Alabama and also played basketball. During his recruitment, Thomas received scholarship offers from South Alabama, Central Arkansas, Eastern Kentucky, Georgia Southern, Navy and Army.
Tennessee will kick off its 2026 football season Sept. 5 versus Furman at Neyland Stadium. The season opener is scheduled for 3:30 p.m. EDT (SEC Network+).
The Vols will also host Kennesaw State, Texas, Auburn, Alabama, Kentucky and LSU, while playing at Georgia Tech, Arkansas, South Carolina, Texas A&M and Vanderbilt during the 2026 campaign.
