2027 Pennsylvania safety commits to Tennessee football

Four-star safety Marcus Jones committed to Tennessee over Ole Miss, Michigan and North Carolina on Friday, according to Hayes Fawcett of Rivals.

The 6-foot-3, 190-pound prospect is from The Haverford School in Haverford, Pennsylvania. Rivals ranks him as the No. 17 safety in the class and No. 8 player in Pennsylvania.

Jones is the third legacy prospect to commit to the Vols’ 2027 recruiting class. His uncle, Mark Jones, played wide receiver at Tennessee from 2000-03.

Tennessee offered Marcus Jones a scholarship on Nov. 26, 2025. He officially visited the Vols on June 12.

Maryland was the first school to offer Marcus Jones a scholarship on Sept. 23, 2025. Other schools to offer him scholarships include Pittsburgh, Army, Wisconsin, Wake Forest, Georgia Tech, Virginia Tech, Boston College, Vanderbilt, Kentucky, Louisville, Purdue, Ohio State, West Virginia, Duke, Syracuse, Connecticut, Miami University, Toledo and Akron.

Tennessee has 16 commitments in its 2027 football recruiting class: linebacker JP Peace, offensive tackle Princeton Uwaifo, quarterback Derrick Baker, athlete Jaden Butler, wide receiver KeSean Bowman, defensive back Carter Jamison and defensive back Brandon Leavell, tight end Malik Howard, defensive lineman Christian Mays, cornerback Dylan Haley, linebacker Kenneth Simon II, kicker Ford Fehling, long snapper Sam McKeown, offensive tackle Q’Mari Hudson, athlete Dayon Cooper and Marcus Jones.
