#21 JoJo Scott

Jozia “JoJo” Scott (b. June 1, 2007) is a promising young defensive back from Florida who is majoring in kinesiology. He played in 2025 against Oklahoma State, Utah and Colorado as a member of the punt return unit, thus preserving his redshirt.*

Scott prepped under head coach Kendrick Stewart at Victory Christian Academy in Lakeland, Florida, where he was viewed as the 78th-best cornerback in the Class of 2025 by 247Sports after he carded 57 tackles, 1.5 tackles for loss, seven interceptions, one forced fumble and three fumble recoveries over the final three seasons of his prep career.

He had three interceptions in each of his final two high school seasons, and added 300 receiving yards and three touchdowns on 20 catches over his final two seasons.

Scott also competed in basketball and track and field as a prep.

He committed to K-State over offers from Akron, Arkansas State, Florida Atlantic, Georgia State, Georgia Tech, Iowa State, Jackson State, Kansas, Liberty, Louisville, Memphis, NC State, Nebraska, New Hampshire, North Dakota State, Oregon State, South Florida, Temple, UAB, UConn, USF, West Virginia, Western Michigan and Wisconsin, as well as recruiting interest from Maryland, Miami and Tennessee.

Scott’s lead recruiter was his former position coach, Van Malone, who had this to say at this time last year:

The younger guys have come in and worked hard and have had their noses in the books. The flashiest one I’ve seen is JoJo Scott, who has done some really good things, but he’s still a freshman with a long way to go.

Although Scott is still listed as a cornerback on the roster, head coach Collin Klein indicated Tuesday that he is currently splitting snaps and battling for a starting job with a newcomer at the “jack” safety/nickelback position:

MJ (Micheal Graham Jr.) and JoJo, the competition between both of them is ongoing, but both of them have taken really, really good steps since the spring. Coverability, communication, is really, really improved. So, I’m excited to see how that goes, but we have two guys that you feel really, really good about there.

*K-State has recently announced a new classification scheme that designates players by their year of eligibility regardless of whether they have “redshirted,” a term that will go out of use with the new “5-for-5” rule. Thus, the KSU SID lists Scott as a true sophomore even though he barely played in 2025. For the sake of consistency with past posts, I will continue to designate redshirts based on their playing history, but also note their remaining eligibility to stay consistent with the new designations as well.
