Dylan Davidson (b. March 17, 2006) is a transfer punting specialist from Division II Emporia State in Kansas who is majoring in business management. I believe he will strongly challenge Simon McClannan for the main job.

In 2024, Davidson punted at Central Oklahoma as he retained his redshirt. He averaged 42.6 yards on five punts, with one landing inside the 20-yard line and one traveling 50 yards.

Last season, Davidson played in 11 games as the primary punter for the Hornets, averaging 43.6 yards on 61 punts with 14 traveling at least 50 yards and 18 landing inside the opponent’s 20-yard line en route to All-Mid-American Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) first-team honors.

He ranked fifth nationally and tops in the MIAA in punting average, while he finished third in program history.

Davidson led the MIAA with his 14 punts of at least 50 yards, while his 19 punts inside the 20-yard line ranked third in the conference in 2025. He posted an average of at least 45 yards in six games, including a career-high average of 49.8 yards against Missouri Southern State. That game included a career-long punt of 66 yards, which was the second longest in the MIAA during the 2025 season.

Davidson’s game against Missouri Southern State came on the heels of a 48-yard average with a long of 63 at Missouri Western. He also booted a 65-yard punt at Angelo State and posted two punts of 50 or more yards on six occasions, while he had three punts land inside the opponent 20-yard line in two games.

Prior to his time in Emporia, Davidson prepped under head coach Dawayne Hudson at Perkins-Tryon High School in Perkins, Oklahoma, where he was named the public school district’s special teams player of the year and an Oklahoma Coaches Association All-Star as a senior after punting 49 times for a 40.4-yard average with 19 punts landing inside the opponent 20-yard line.

He also served as a kickoff specialist all four seasons, averaging 47.7 yards on 199 kickoffs with 41 touchbacks.

Davidson originally committed to Emporia State over scholarship offers from Benedictine College, Bethel College, Independence Community College, Nebraska-Kearney and Oklahoma Baptist, as well as interest from North Texas and Oklahoma State.
