The Alabama Crimson Tide are set to enter Saturday's SEC showdown against South Carolina as a sizable favorite.
When looking back at recent matchups between the teams though, there is reason to believe that this game is likely to be close. Alabama and South Carolina met during both the 2024-25 seasons in Tuscaloosa and Columbia, games which saw the Crimson Tide avoid an upset with a 27-25 and 29-22, respectively.
As for the third game between the two, will Alabama avoid another potential upset from the Gamecocks, or will it be the Crimson Tide rolling to a big win over South Carolina?
Here are three predictions for Alabama's Week 4 showdown against South Carolina.
Noah Rogers makes impact in Alabama debut
Not listed on Wednesday night's initial SEC Availability Report, Alabama wide receiver Noah Rogers is officially set to make his Crimson Tide debut Saturday against South Carolina. The NC State transfer was considered one of the top wide receivers on Alabama's roster prior to suffering an injury back in the spring, and I'll say that Rogers has a solid first showing in a Crimson Tide uniform, making an impact in his debut with multiple catches.
Alabama defense forces two LaNorris Sellers turnovers
South Carolina quarterback LaNorris Sellers has struggled with turnovers against the Alabama defense each of the last two seasons, throwing two interceptions with three fumbles lost. I'll predict Alabama's defense to force at-least two turnovers from Sellers on Saturday night, as the South Carolina quarterback, who has thrown three picks in the last two weeks, is facing a Crimson Tide defensive unit leading the SEC with five interceptions.
Keelon Russell has another big showing
Speaking of the quarterback position, Keelon Russell is coming off his best showing yet as Alabama's starter in the win over Florida State, completing 23-of-30 passes for 320 yards and three touchdowns, while also rushing for 56 yards and another score. Despite facing a South Carolina defense that allows the fifth-fewest passing yards a game in the SEC, I'll say Russell has another big showing through the air Saturday night, while also rushing for a score.
