One of the most talented defensive linemen in the 2027 recruiting class came off the board on Thursday afternoon, but unfortunately, it didn't land in the Oregon Ducks' favor.

4-star DL Kasi Currie announced his commitment to the Texas Longhorns on Thursday afternoon, which didn't come as a major surprise for many who have been paying attention to the recruitment. Currie was expected to take an official visit to Eugene this weekend, but it's understandably up in the air now, following his commitment.

Standing at 6-foot-5, 315 pounds, Currie is rated as the No. 35 player in the 2027 class, and No. 2 defensive lineman in the nation, per 247Sports. He plays his high school ball at Sierra Canyon in California.

After a recruiting re-rank earlier in the week, plus a trio of commitments over the weekend, Oregon now has the No. 6 class in the nation.

This would have been a major pickup for Oregon on the defensive line, but his recruitment may not be over. We've seen Lanning do great work with recruiting flips at the end of the period, so this is a name to watch all the way until signing day.
