The Georgia Bulldogs have finally gotten an answer to one lingering question for the class of 2026. Defensive back recruit Chace Calicut has committed and signed with the Georgia Southern Eagles.
Calicut is a four-star recruit in the class of 2026. Signing day passed without Georgia announcing the official signing of Calicut, so his status with the Bulldogs has been in doubt for some time. Calicut went on a visit to Syracuse, but ultimately is signing with Georgia Southern, per 247Sports.
The four-star originally committed to Georgia back in June 2025. Calicut has been dealing with a legal situation, which is a big reason why he did not end up at UGA. Calicut had an aggravated assault with a deadly weapon felony charges dismissed from an off-the-field incident.
The four-star safety is ranked as the No. 267 recruit in the 2026 recruiting cycle. The 6-foot-3, 190-pound defensive back is the No. 25 safety in the nation and the No. 36 recruit in Texas. Calicut played high school football for North Shore in Houston, Texas.
The talented safety is Georgia Southern’s top commitment in the 2026 recruiting cycle. The Eagles finished with the No. 89 recruiting class in the nation, while Georgia finished with the No. 6 signing class in the 2026 cycle.
