Change of course for Lawrence North's Izayveon Moore leads to in-state commitment

Lawrence North running back Izayveon Moore announced his commitment to Purdue on Sunday.

Moore, a three-time 1,000-yard rusher in his first three seasons at Lawrence North, committed to Miami of Ohio in early May but was offered by Purdue just three days later. He took an official visit to Purdue last weekend.

Lawrence North Wildcats running back Izayveon Moore (3) runs the ball Friday, Oct. 10, 2025, during a game between Center Grove and the Lawrence North Wildcats at Center Grove High School in Greenwood.

“I thought it could happen,” Moore said of the Purdue offer. “They came up to the school to watch me and then came back to chop it up with me and offered. It felt good. They took a little minute, but it felt great.”

The 5-8, 180-pound Moore is one of the state’s most electrifying runners. He originally picked Miami over offers from Eastern Michigan, Ohio and Toledo. He ran for 1,587 yards and 30 touchdowns as a junior, his third consecutive 1,000-yard season. For his high school career, Moore has 4,083 yards and 61 rushing TDs, along with 18 receptions for 376 yards and five TDs.

At the time he committed to Miami, Moore was disappointed more Power Four schools did not offer. Purdue eventually came through.

“There’s not much I can do about that,” he said. “It’s probably a little bit of my size but I just push that to the side and keep working. I’m going to get there one day. You can go to a smaller school and do good there and still have a lot of opportunities.”

Moore is Purdue’s seventh high school commit in the 2027 class and second in-state recruit, joining Andrean’s Ethan Reyna.
