Arley Morrell (b. Oct. 18, 2007) is a promising young tight end from Kansas who plans on majoring in business administration. I expect him to redshirt* but still play and appear on the depth chart as a reserve tight end.

By securing his late commitment, the new coaching staff ensured K-State went 2-for-3 on stud tight ends from west of I-135 (along with Linkon Cure of Goodland; unfortunately, Great Bend’s Ian Premer chose Notre Dame).

Morrell prepped under head coach Brent Hoelting at Pratt High School, where he was ranked as the 24th-best tight end in the Class of 2026 by Rivals, while the organization viewed him as the third-best overall prospect in the state of Kansas.

He was named the 2025 Class 3A Offensive Player of the Year by The Wichita Eagle and the 2025 Sports in Kansas Class 3A Defensive Player of the Year after he picked up first team all-state honors as a senior from the Eagle, Sports in Kansas, KSHSAA Covered and the Kansas Football Coaches Association.

Morrell totaled 63 receptions for 1,029 yards and 13 touchdowns over his final three seasons as a prep, including a 517-yard, seven-touchdown effort as a senior. He recorded 166 tackles, 29 tackles for loss, 5.5 sacks, 10 passes defended and two interceptions during his career.

A three-sport standout who was a 1,000-point scorer in basketball and earned first-team all-state honors, he also was a back-to-back state champion in the 4×400 meter relay.

Morrell signed with K-State over scholarship offers from Arizona, Colorado State (where he previously was committed), Cornell, Dartmouth, Illinois State, Iowa State (from which he also decommitted, after committing to Matt Campbell following his decommitment from CSU), Lindenwood, Marshall, New Mexico, Oregon State, South Dakota, Southeast Missouri State, Texas State, Tulsa, UTSA, Wake Forest, Washington State, Western Kentucky and Yale, as well as interest from Harvard, Nebraska, Utah State, Vanderbilt and Wisconsin.

His lead recruiter was director of player personnel and high school relations Taylor Braet.

*Keep in mind that starting this season, redshirted players can play in up to nine total games and retain their year of eligibility. If the 5-for-5 rule survives its court challenges, that number goes from nine to “all of them.”
