If there's a 5-star offensive tackle that Miami Hurricanes head coach Mario Cristobal is after, chances are the other teams vying for his services are going to end up happy. History shows that he is likely to end up in Coral Gables.
However, the Notre Dame Fighting Irish turned that idea on its head Tuesday morning, picking up a commitment from 5-star OT Oluwasemilore Olubobola, the No. 3 OT in the 2027 class. Olubobola chose Marcus Freeman and the Irish over both Miami and the Texas A&M Aggies.
Olubobola stands at 6-foot-6, 295 pounds, and is rated as the No. 15 overall player in the country, and the No. 1 player from the state of New Jersey. He is now the 15th player to join Notre Dame's star-studded recruiting class, which ranks No. 4 in the nation. Olubobola is also the second OT in the class, joining 4-star James Halter, who has been committed since October of last year.

Olubobola has a ton of potential ahead of him, with the frame to put on a lot of weight and be a dominant player in the trenches. Olubobola originally played basketball, but made the switch to football during his high school career and quickly became a top prospect.
The Fighting Irish have been hot on the recruiting trail this cycle, and if they continue to win on the field this year as they have in recent years, we can expect that to continue into 2028 as well.
