The decision the Oregon Ducks have been waiting for has finally arrived.
Five-star wide receiver Dakota Guerrant announced his commitment to the Ducks on Tuesday live on “The Pat McAfee Show.” Guerrant chose Oregon over his hometown program, Michigan.
The Ducks have been chasing Guerrant for some time, and a late push by the Wolverines made things interesting. However, Guerrant took an official visit to Eugene earlier this month, and that appeared to seal the deal for the 6-foot-1 wideout from Michigan to join Dan Lanning and become the top wideout in the 2027 recruiting class for Oregon.

“This was always my dream school growing up,” Guerrant said. “When they started recruiting me, they felt like family from the start. It just kept building with them, and how they do with their receivers and how they’re producing, I’ve just seen myself there from the start.”
Guerrant is the No. 23 overall player in the class and No. 4 wideout, per 247 Sports. Oregon quarterback commit Will Mencl put on the recruiting press for the Ducks at the Elite 11 Finals, calling for Guerrant and other top uncommitted receivers to join forces with him in Eugene. Now, those efforts have paid off. Guerrant was scheduled to visit Michigan this weekend, but those plans are now likely off the table after announcing his commitment.
In his junior season at Harper Woods High School, Guerrant made 58 catches for 1,100 yards and 27 touchdowns. He can be deployed out of the backfield, out wide, and on special teams. Guerrant wins jump balls with ease and is a nightmare for defenses after the catch with his speed.
Oregon isn’t done recruiting receivers yet. The Ducks will get five-star Xavier Sabb on campus this weekend for an official visit, and the Ducks also hosted four-star Blake Wong last weekend. Guerrant has been Oregon’s biggest target in this class, but now they are hoping to add more pieces around him.
Don’t expect Michigan to stop pursuing its top in-state talent in this recruiting cycle. The Wolverines are trying to reinvent their offense under new coach Kyle Whittingham, and Guerrant has a connection to Michigan quarterback Bryce Underwood. The next step will be to get Guerrant to shut down his recruitment during the summer and fall.
Guerrant’s commitment to the Ducks boosts their class massively toward another top-five finish. With more talent likely on the way, Oregon could see its class improve greatly in the next few weeks, and Guerrant is a huge first step.
