Montana Running Back Va’aimalae Fonoti Commits to Mizzou Football

As the transfer portal period winds down, Mizzou Football is remaining active until the very end. Eli Drinkwitz and the staff continue to address the depth at the running back position — with another commitment from an FCS school.

Montana running back Va’aimalae (Malae) Fonoti has committed to Mizzou Football.

This season at Montana, Fonoti had 48 rushing attempts for 184 yards and four touchdowns helping the Grizzlies reach the FCS Playoff Semifinals. On the receiving end, Fonoti had 10 receptions for 97 yards. In the 2024 season, Fonoti was named Big Sky Offensive Player of the Week as a freshman for his performance against Morehead State.

A native of Hawaii, Fonoti notably chose Missouri over his home state Hawaii and Big 12 member Utah.

Fonoti is the 20th overall portal addition and joins Houston Christian’s Xai’Shaun Edwards as the second running back commitment in the transfer portal. He joins a loaded RB room of Ahmad Hardy, Jamal Roberts, Edwards, and incoming freshman Maxwell Warner next season.
