Ohio State football makes cut for 4-star cornerback from California

The Ohio State football team will finally open its 2026 season this week. Even though the Buckeyes are firmly focused on the task at hand, recruiting never stops. While the 2027 class is almost wrapped up, it's time to begin locking in commitments for 2028. As high school football has already kicked off, a four-star cornerback has put OSU in his top 12.

Ca'ron Williams is the No. 1-rated corner in the talent-rich state of California according to 247Sports composite rankings and a top 200 player overall. The Santa Margarita Catholic product is keeping the Buckeyes in the mix along with Cal, LSU, Miami, Notre Dame, Oklahoma, Oregon, Texas, Texas A&M, UCLA, USC, and Washington.

His high school team is coached by former Heisman winner and NFL quarterback Carson Palmer. The team is now 2-0 after Friday's game thanks to a pick-six from Williams, as well as a blocked extra point.

Williams earned a scholarship offer this past April during a visit to Columbus, which left the coaching staff impressed. There's a long way to go in his recruitment, but making the cut from a long list of suitors is a step in the right direction.
