High school recruiting has been kind to Iowa recently.

Over the past few weeks, the Hawkeyes have added four commits to their 2027 class, adding depth on the offensive and defensive lines, as well as in the secondary. While it’s still early in the process, Iowa currently boasts a top-20 recruiting class nationally, according to 247Sports. And they’re not done yet.

Over the weekend, the Hawkeyes hosted one of the premier prospects in the class for a visit on campus. Four-star quarterback Jake Nawrot took to X on Monday to post a picture of himself and head coach Kirk Ferentz, offensive coordinator Tim Lester, and more, announcing that he took a visit to Iowa.

The Hawkeyes offered Nawrot on January 26. As a junior in 2025, Nawrot completed 71% of his passes for 3,078 yards and 41 touchdowns. He only threw two interceptions all season long, showcasing an ability to play a clean brand of football while still filling up the box score.

Nawrot is from Arlington Heights, Ill., and John Hersey High School. He’s the 68th-best prospect in the 2027 class, the No. 6 quarterback and the second-best prospect in Illinois, according to 247Sports. The 6-foot-4, 200-pound signal-caller also holds offers from programs such as Oregon, Washington, Missouri, Florida State, and many more.

Iowa is looking for its first quarterback commit in the 2027 class. Nawrot is an elite prospect and would be a huge win for Ferentz and the rest of the coaching staff.

Here’s a look at Nawrot’s junior season highlights:
