The Florida State and Miami football programs have entered a partnership with Progressive, which is now the presenting sponsor of the iconic rivalry. The Seminoles announced the news on Thursday morning.
As part of the sponsorship, Progressive field logos will be prominently displayed on the playing surface at every home game for both programs, starting this week when the Seminoles host the New Mexico State Aggies. There will also be signs in Doak Campbell Stadium and custom rivalry content.
"Progressive's commitment to Florida State Athletics and its presence on the field throughout the season reflects the strength and reach of this partnership," said Vice President and Director of Athletics Michael Alford. "The Florida State–Miami rivalry is one of the most storied and passionate matchups in college football, and we're excited to work with Progressive to elevate the experience surrounding this game while engaging Seminole fans all season long."
"College football is about more than what happens on game day – it reflects the pride, tradition and community that define Universities. Rivalries are one of the many things that make college football what it is and we're proud to support the student-athletes, alumni and fans who help make these programs so special," said Sean Freeman, Media Business Leader at Progressive. "We're thrilled to have the opportunity to be a part of game days with these historic fanbases as well as being a part of this storied rivalry."
Progressive has already partnered with 13 other football programs ahead of the season to place their logo on the field. They have already agreed to deals with the Boise State Broncos, Colorado Buffaloes, Georgia Bulldogs, Iowa Hawkeyes, Kansas State Wildcats, Ole Miss Rebels, Oregon Ducks, Purdue Boilermakers, SMU Mustangs, Syracuse Orange, Texas Tech Red Raiders, USC Trojans, and Wake Forest Demon Deacons.
While placement for the logo is set to vary from school to school, the announcement includes a graphic with the Progressive logo on FSU's 25-yard line. Fans will see the logo for the first time on Saturday when FSU plays New Mexico State in Doak Campbell Stadium. The game is set to start at 7 p.m. ET and wil be on the CW Network.
