Oregon Football Gaining Momentum for Top-50 Recruit Before Official Visits

The Oregon Ducks‘ 2027 recruiting class already ranks third in the Big Ten and ninth in the nation with 13 commitments, per Rivals. Offensive line has been a point of emphasis, landing four-star OT Cameron Wagner, four-star IOL Gus Corsair and three-star OT Avery Michael.

However, to help bolster the pass protection, Dan Lanning and his staff are targeting Ismael Camara out of Gilmer, Texas. At 6-foot-6, 335 pounds, he is a four-star recruit, the No. 4 interior offensive lineman and the No. 36 player in the nation, according to Rivals Industry Rankings.

His recruiting process is set to heat up, with official visits scheduled with the Texas A&M Aggies (May 30), LSU Tigers (June 6), Texas Longhorns (June 12) and Ducks (June 19).

While each fights for his commitment, Rivals’ national recruiting analyst, Sam Spiegelman, notes that Oregon is emerging as a serious threat going into the next stage of Camara’s recruitment.

“I view Texas and Oregon as the favorites, and no team is gaining momentum faster than the Ducks after getting Camara and his family back to Eugene for the spring game,” Spiegelman wrote.

Oregon’s interest in the pass protector doesn’t come as a major surprise. After his junior season at Gilmer High School, he earned second-team honors on the MaxPreps Small Town All-America Team.

Following his spring game visit on April 25, he raved about the Ducks, telling Rivals’ Steve Wiltfong, “It is easy to see why hardly anybody transfers from Oregon. It is just a magical place if you are an athlete.”

The effort Lanning and his staff have put in is beginning to wear off, as they’re in a strong position to land Camara. Oregon has the best chance (74.2%) to receive his commitment, according to the Rivals Recruiting Prediction Machine. Texas (6.1%), Texas A&M (3.6%) and LSU (3.6%) are well behind.
