The expansion of the College Football Playoff is a hot topic right now. Ohio State football HC Ryan Day has a pretty clear stance on where he stands.
The Ohio State Buckeyes have a weird theme running with the expansion of the College Football Playoff. Ohio State was able to win it all when the format switched to four teams back in 2014, and they did the same in the first year of the 12-team format a decade later.
Just a couple of years into the 12-team format, there's a belief we could be seeing a 24-team format very soon. Ohio State HC Ryan Day has mixed feelings on the idea.

"It's debatable whether it's best for Ohio State, you can go back and forth on that, but it's certainly best for the conference and great for college football in general," Day told ESPN's Adam Rittenberg earlier in the week. "It engages more fan bases late in the season."
Playing more games is a concern for schools that feel good about being in the CFP annually during its current setup. Ohio State knows they're in comfortably every season as long as they don't lose more than two games.
"When there was four, you just had to win two games," Day said on how teams could win it all. "Now, there's more games to be played, there's a bigger pool, a bigger field. But when you take a step away from it, you're always going to be late in the season, playing for an opportunity to be the highest seed that you can be."
The majority of college football fans do not want to see an expansion, especially the top teams. Folks wanting to see expansion are teams that typically lose three or four games a year. Whether fans want to see the change or not doesn't seem to matter, as momentum is growing for it to happen.
Ohio State would still be in the mix to compete for a National Championship every season, and that's all you can ask for.
