USC has been very hot on the recruiting trail of late. Inevitably, however not all of the commitments that the Trojans pick up will remain committed until signing day in December.

On Tuesday, USC saw four-star wide receiver Eli Woodard decommit. Woodard had been committed to the Trojans since February. A native of Temecula, California, 247Sports Composite ranks him as the No. 178 overall player and the No. 23 wide receiver in the class of 2027.

Under general manager Chad Bowden, USC has had a policy that once they commit, players are not allowed to visit other schools. According to various reports, that policy was a factor in Woodard’s decision.

Woodard is not the first recruit that USC has lost due to this policy. However, it appears to be doing far more good than harm, as the Trojans signed the No. 1 recruiting class in the country last year and are pushing for another top five class in 2027.

In addition, there was a report from Rivals Tuesday linking Woodard to Miami. It will be interesting to see what happens next with his recruitment, and where the Trojans go from here.
