Deion Sanders and the Colorado Buffaloes are starting to heat up on the recruiting trail. Four-star safety Gabe Jenkins committed to the Buffaloes on Wednesday morning, becoming their second commitment in as many days after edge Ba’Roc Willis committed on Tuesday.
Jenkins, just like Willis, officially visited last weekend and decided to pull the trigger. The Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, was scheduled to officially visit the Virginia Tech Hokies, Penn State Lions, Pittsburgh Panthers, and Michigan Wolverines in the coming weeks.
Colorado worked quickly to land Jenkins, offering him a scholarship in January and hosting him on his first visit in March. He was previously committed to Penn State, but backed off his pledge in October when they fired head coach James Franklin, giving other schools a second chance that the Buffaloes did not waste.
He is ranked as the No. 321 overall player and No. 33 safety in the 247Sports composite. He is also the No. 12 player from Pennsylvania. He is the first safety to join their 2027 recruiting class and the second defensive back, joining three-star cornerback Davon Dericho.
He is an excellent athlete who has played in all three phases for Imani Christian Academy during his high school career. He played quarterback as a junior, completeting 48.4% if his passes for 1,765 yards, 28 touchdowns, and 12 interceptions, while rushing for 1,409 yards and 13 touchdowns. He made 24 tackles and 3.0 tackles for loss on defense.
Jenkins is Colorado’s fifth commitment in the 2027 recruiting class and the second four-star prospect, joining quarterback Andre Adams. The group is ranked as the 51st best class in the country and the 9th best class in the Big 12 by 247Sports.
