Mississippi's top 10 football recruits in 2027 class headlined by 4-star OT

Just like most states in the Southeast, Mississippi has a rich history of producing some of the best high school talent in the country.

Every year, national championship rosters and highly-touted draft picks consist of players who once called Mississippi home.

While there may not be any five-star prospects coming out of the state this year, several highly ranked players are on the radar of the best programs in the country.

Here's a look at the top 10 players from the Magnolia State in the 2027 class.

1. Caden Moss, Jackson Academy

Position: Offensive Tackle

Height: 6-5

Weight: 320

Commitment: Uncommitted

Football recruiting notes: Moss recently named a top five of Kentucky, LSU, Ohio State, Ole Miss and Oregon. He currently has official visits scheduled to two of those five as he'll visit Ohio State on May 29 and Ole Miss on June 19.

2. Ben'Jarvius Shumaker, Choctaw County (Ackerman)

Position: Defensive Lineman

Height: 6-3

Weight: 285

Commitment: Ole Miss

Football recruiting notes: The Rebels landed a big recruiting win on March 6 with Shumaker's commitment. He had a huge junior season, racking up 69 tackles, 17 for loss, 7 sacks, and two forced fumbles.

3. Mitchell Turner, Louisville

Position: Defensive Lineman

Height: 6-3

Weight: 275

Commitment: Uncommitted

Football recruiting notes: Turner posted monster numbers in 2025, racking up 103 tackles, 41 tackles for loss and 15.5 sacks. His summer visit schedule includes Alabama (May 29), Ole Miss (June 5) and Texas (June 12).

4. Sam LeJeune, Poplarville

Position: Defensive Lineman

Height: 6-3

Weight: 280

Commitment: Uncommitted

Football recruiting notes: LeJeune had a massive junior season, totaling 58 tackles, 14 tackles for loss and eight sacks for the Hornets. He'll have a fairly busy May and June with trips to Auburn (May 29), California (June 4), Florida State (June 13) and Mississippi State (June 20).

5. Ty Keys, Poplarville

Position: Running Back

Height: 6-1

Weight: 200

Commitment: Miami

Football recruiting notes: There aren't many running backs in the country who put up better numbers in 2025 than Keys. He went off to the tune of 3,285 yards and 45 touchdowns on 301 carries, leading the Hornets to eight wins.

6. Tyson Robinson, Brandon

Position: Running Back

Height: 5-9.5

Weight: 199

Commitment: Uncommitted

Football recruiting notes: Robinson garnered national attention after a great sophomore year and his stock has only risen as he prepares for his senior season. After an official visit to Arizona State on April 16, he'll have a bit of a break before trips to Alabama (June 5) and Tennessee (June 19).

7. Derwin Fields, Brookhaven

Position: EDGE

Height: 6-2.5

Weight: 230

Commitment: Texas

Football recruiting notes: Fields was a huge contributor in leading the Tigers to a state championship, recording 56 tackles, 26 tackles for loss, 16 sacks and three forced fumbles. Texas landed a commitment from Fields on April 18.

8. Christian Alexander, Rosa Fort (Tunica)

Position: Running Back

Height: 5-8

Weight: 195

Commitment: Mississippi State

Football recruiting notes: Fort was part of a two-headed monster backfield for the Lions that rushed for over 1,000 yards in 2025. He finished his junior season with 1,364 yards and 21 touchdowns on 147 carries.

9. Frederrick Ford, Greenwood

Position: Linebacker

Height: 6-5

Weight: 190

Commitment: Uncommitted

Football recruiting notes: Ford was relatively unknown on the recruiting scene until January, when he picked up a plethora of SEC offers. This summer he's scheduled to go to Mississippi State (May 29), Florida State (June 5), Tennessee (June 12) and LSU (June 19) for official visits.

10. Antonio Berry, Tupelo

Position: Interior Offensive Lineman

Height: 6-5

Weight: 280

Commitment: Uncommitted

Football recruiting notes: Berry's already taken a fair share of visits, taking trips to Ole Miss, Alabama and Georgia since the start of March. He's currently slated to head back to Alabama on June 19 for an official visit.
