For the second straight week, Michigan State football will give the start at quarterback to redshirt freshman Alessio Milivojevic. Milivojevic started two weeks ago at Minnesota and will now get his first start at Spartan Stadium against Penn State.

Michigan State opted to give an opportunity to the redshirt freshman after incumbent starter Aidan Chiles struggled this year during what is now a six-game losing streak. Milivojevic looked good in a loss last week against the Gophers, despite getting sacked seven times behind a shaky offensive line. Milivojevic threw for 311 yards and a touchdown and only had eight incompletions on the day.

Milivojevic was a 3-star recruit out of St. Francis in Wheaton, Illinois, ranked as the No. 41 quarterback in his class. He’s looked much better than that rating, and might give the Spartans their best chance to finally break this losing streak.
