Florida State of Recruiting: Official visitor preview for the May 29 weekend

The summer months are upon us, and that means official visit season has arrived. Recruiting strategy for high school prospects has shifted in the new age of NIL-funded recruiting. Major programs used to jockey for the final official visit slot to make a strong final impression, but now prep recruiting is being treated increasingly similar to transfer portal recruiting. Programs now want the first crack at their targets so they can present strong offers and try to shut down any future official visits. Prospects report feeling highly pressured to commit early, but some still honor taking all of their official visits (which are now unlimited).
During the final weekend in May, the first of the major visiting weekends for the 2026 cycle, FSU will host five official visitors. Three visitors are composite blue-chips and one is a current Florida State commitment.
FSU recruiting: Visitors for the May 29th weekend
4-star RB Jayden Miles: Miles is a 6’2, 200 pound bruiser from Baton Rouge Catholic (Louisiana). Kam Martin has battled his way into Miles’ top group and FSU will get the first crack at the blue-chip. Miles has additional summer visits with Ohio State, LSU, and Kentucky. If LSU prioritizes him, he’ll be a Tiger. Simple as that. FSU will need to hope that Miles is more of a backup plan for LSU and Ohio State to have any chance at sealing the deal. Even then, I’ve mentioned previously that I don’t think FSU should spend the kind of resources necessary on another top high school running back this cycle. I think it would be better to use that money at other positions in the 2027 cycle and then spend on the position in 2028.
3-star WR Antwan Lockett: Lockett falls a bit lower on the wide receiver board (with prospects like Sean Green and Cam Wide higher) but FSU sits in his top two alongside Louisville, which is his only other OV announced thus far. He has a strong relationship with Tim Harris and nearly committed to FSU in the spring. If FSU makes a strong push for the 6’0, 170 pounder from Colquitt County (Georgia), he should be attainable.
4-star Edge Anthony Cavallaro (FSU commit)
Cavallaro is among FSU’s firmest commits right now, and the Seminoles will look to lock things down this weekend. The composite blue-chip edge rusher will also work on fellow visitors for the staff.
4-star DL Karlos May
May is a 6’3, 300 pound bruiser from Birmingham. Alabama. He has three dozen offers and is also visiting Georgia, Auburn, and Ohio State after his time in Tallahassee. If he’s a priority for any of those three programs, FSU likely won’t be able to afford him. The Seminoles can offer early playing time but that might not be enough.
3-star DL Eric Vaulx, Jr.
Vaulx has a good chance of finishing as a blue-chip in my opinion. FSU was in early on him but since earning the offer from the Seminoles, he’s also picked up major interest from a dozen other power conference programs. Florida State is primarily battling Tennessee and Missouri right now. Vaulx is from Mississippi and had a very productive junior campaign, notching 75 tackles (18 for loss), six sacks, three fumble recoveries, a forced fumble, and three blocked kicks. FSU might have to overpay but this is a prospect they are in true contention for.
